Article I – Name of the
Club
Section 1: The name of the club shall be the LATI
Tech Club.
Article II – Purposes
Section 1: The club will promote the professional
development of CIS students.
Section 2: The club will help provide information
and connections for internships.
Section 3: The club will provide a way for
first and second year CIS students to interact.
Section 4: The club will provide educational
field trips for members.
Article III – Membership
Section 1: CIS students who are currently enrolled
at LATI are eligible for membership. A student may become
an official member by paying dues, currently $10/year, or
if the club designates them as an honorary member in exchange
for contributions to the club (Example: Performing a significant
number of hours of work for club, IF requested by the club)
Generally memberships of all kind will expire at the end of
the following summer session.
Section 2: All members shall enjoy full membership
benefits and be eligible to vote. No person who has not paid
for membership for the year or already become an honorary
member for the year shall be allowed to vote or to run for
an office.
Article IV – Meetings
Section 1: Meetings are open to all members at all
times. Meetings may be for the purpose of business or for
educational or entertainment purposes.
Article V – Officers
Section 1: Only students who have paid membership
dues may run for office or vote for office. For elections:
Candidates who are not challenged for office can be voted
on orally. For positions where there is more than one candidate,
the vote shall be written and counted by the current president,
advisers, or other designated individual(s). A simple majority
of the vote of those present shall be enough to elect an officer.
Section 2: Basic duties of the offices shall be as
follows:
President: Sets times for business meetings
and leads those meetings. Tracks progress of committees.
Vice President: Leads meetings in the absence
of the president. If the president is absent from campus,
the vice president shall assume the office of president in
the interim. Candidates for vice president shall be first-year-students
so that they can later assume the duties of president and
provide continuity.
Secretary: Takes brief minutes at meetings
and posts them on the Web site. Writes thank-you notes to
businesses and individuals when appropriate. Sends e-mail
notices to everyone in the club regarding events.
Treasurer: Deposits dues from members and
maintains member database accuracy. Gives a report on funds
available at each business meeting.
Section 3: Term of offices:Office terms are
generally for one year. However, if an officer leaves campus
in the spring or summer due to graduation or absence for an
internship, they shall cease to be an officer. The club will
hold a general meeting to elect interim officers who will
hold their new office only until regular fall elections. An
exception to this is that if the president leaves and the
vice president is still on campus, he or she shall assume
the office of president. This will lead to club continuity.
Article VI – Committees
Section 1: The club president shall appoint committee
chairs. A committee chairperson should be chosen through the
volunteer process or on merit if there are multiple candidates.
Current committees are:
Web site committee: The committee shall design and
maintain the club website as they see fit. The design may
be altered from year to year, but the basic information should
generally be preserved.
Program committee: The committee shall schedule
programs and field trips for the club, asking permission through
a vote first if notable funds are needed for the project.
Fundraising committee: The committee shall
organize and direct fundraiser such as club dances and CompuMatch
sales.
Social committee: The social committee shall
schedule events for the club to provide a chance for members
to socialize (Example: pizza lunches).
Article VII – Bylaws
Section 1: The officers may propose changes or additions
to the bylaws to the club. Those changes shall be voted on.
A simple majority vote of those present will be enough to
change the bylaws (all members must have been invited to the
meeting).
Section 2: New bylaws or changes to the bylaws
shall be added to the end of this document and dated.
